Amerita received a gunshot wound to her upper torso in the melee. Conscious and alert, she was rushed to St. Mary's Medical Center and was listed in stable condition.
According to other workers in the office plaza, there have been several robbery attempts in building. Lefflew reported that he was not aware that the area had a high crime rate, however, he did acknowledge that the parking lot is secluded and the building has multiple escape routes.
According to office manager, Angela Hernandez, on September 11, 2008 she was held at gunpoint by a man demanding money. Hernandez works for a court reporting business next door to Perry & Jensen.
Hernandez admits that she is fearful, and commented that ''it's not a good feeling. We really do need security.'' Thinking back to her own incident, Hernandez admits that she “got lucky” and added that ''every single one of us walks up those stairs every day. It's not like we're walking along dark alleys at 4 a.m. We're coming to work.''
Police are still investigating the crime and looking for a suspect who was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and was possibly driving a white Hyundai Elantra.
