Brian Head Resort is Utah's highest. Located in Brian Head, it offers more than 50 trails for all levels, as well as 12 freestyle areas. The longest run, Giant Steps, is 1.5 miles. If you are looking for convenience, Apple Mountain in Freeland, MI, is the place for you. Located right in the heart of the tri-cities in mid-Michigan, the family-oriented ski resort has 12 slopes for all levels (though is mainly for beginners and intermediates), a 220-foot vertical drop, a quad chairlift, a snowboarding park with a half pipe, and 100% snowmaking capabilities. They also offer lighting for night skiing. Prices run from $20 to $30* during the day, depending on the time. North Carolina's Beech Mountain offers some of the best skiing in the South. Ski Beech is the highest ski resort in Eastern North America, with 15 slopes and 10 lifts for all levels. Tickets for snowboarding and skiing run from $13 at night to $50 for a full day.* Season passes and coupon books are also available. Campaw Mountain in Mahwah, NJ, is located only 18 miles from New York City. You can actually see the New York City skyline from its summit. The ski resort caters to beginners and intermediates and is known for its Skiwee program for children from three to seven years old (packages from $60 up to $210). They also offer a freestyle terrain park with half pipe and rails, two double chairlifts and up to six jaw-dropping 800-foot tubing runs. If you want to head to one of the crème de la crème ski resorts, Beaver Creek in Avon, CO, one of Vail's premier resorts, would be just what you are looking for. With 146 trails and a run 3.5 miles long, you will certainly not be bored. Beaver Creek is also known for its elegance. You will find yourself in a secluded alpine village with a performing arts center, an outdoor ice rink, heated walkways and escalators to take you to the chairlift.
Tickets vary throughout the season, but run approximately $220 for three days to $300 for four days. Or enjoy a three-day package that includes lodging and beginner, intermediate, or advanced lessons with a lift ticket for all three days ($460).
