Stradley revealed that Edward Chernoff, one of the firm's partners, is presently in Los Angeles to meet with investigators from the police department. According to Chernoff, Dr. Murray is being fully cooperative with the police and has remained in the Los Angeles area.
According to a statement released on Saturday night by the Los Angeles Police Department, Dr. Murray was interviewed extensively and was ''cooperative and provided information which will aid the investigation.''
After the meeting, Attorney Chernoff issued a statement on behalf of Dr. Murray and said that they had ''answered every and all questions asked by L.A.P.D. in an attempt to help piece together the mysteries surrounding'' Mr. Jackson’s death, and tried to clarify “some inconsistencies.'' Mr. Chernoff’s assistant commented that the interview with the police department and Dr. Murray accompanied by Chernoff lasted three hours.
According to the statement, Dr. Murray “is in no way a suspect and remains a witness to this tragedy. He (Dr. Murray) was hired by Mr. Jackson and will remain in Los Angeles until investigators no longer need his assistance with the investigation.''
Since Jackson's untimely death, allegations that the pop star was addicted to prescription drugs have surfaced along with accusations that Dr. Conrad Murray gave Jackson the lethal injection of Demerol that lead to his death. According to attorney Ed Chernoff, Dr. Murray claims that Jackson died in his sleep and that he has never ''prescribed or administered Demerol to Michael Jackson. Whether Michael Jackson injected drugs is not something that we can discuss until the toxicology report comes back.''
Investigators have also questioned Dr.Murray as to why Jackson was on the bed instead of a firm surface when Dr. Murray administered emergency heart massage to Jackson. A spokesperson for Dr. Murray responded that ''as Jackson is frail and small and heart pumping can be quite forceful, Murray thought the bed was better.''
The final results, including a toxicology report, are expected to take several weeks.
