How to Apply for the Washington State Bar Exam

by Silas Reed

The Washington State Bar Association will give the Washington bar exam in Bellevue, Washington. This happens twice a year, and only in February and July, so if you want to take your exam, it is important that you make sure your application is submitted in a timely manner, so that you can be sure you will be admitted promptly.

The first thing that you want to do when you are ready to take the Washington Bar Exam is to look at the Washington State Admissions to Practice Rules and Procedures, as well as the Washington State Rules of Professional Conduct. These two sets of rules will give you the admission requirements for the bar exam, and you want to be sure that you fit these admission requirements before you actually take the time to fill out the forms and begin to be registered. Therefore, the first step that you want to take is making sure that you know what you are doing and that you have all of the needed information in order to make a good decision about the various types of application materials that you might need.

Then you will want to download your copy of the Washington Bar Exam Application, as well as the instructions that go along with it. You will want to look at the application, to make sure that you have all of the pieces together, before you start to fill it out.

Next, make sure that there is time in your schedule to complete and send in the application before the deadline. Remember that you want to be sure that you meet the deadline, as the test is only given twice a year, and not meeting it will mean that you have to wait another six months to be able to take the bar exam.

Make sure that you fully answer all of the questions that are found on the application and fill out all the spaces for answers. Then, double check to be sure that you haven’t left anything out and that you have all of the right forms filled in.

Certain parts of your application will need to be notarized, so make sure that you have made a note of this and that you have taken the time to do this quickly and easily.

Then you will also want to be sure that your certifications of good moral characters are done by any two attorneys who are in good standing from any jurisdiction.

Once you have all of the required forms together, you will want to put them in a packet. This should include the application, two signed Certificates of Good Moral Character, and a notarized Authorization and Release Form.

The last thing that you need to do is to be sure to send in your application in enough time so that it can be received well before the deadline. This will allow you to take the bar exam when you desire.
