Law Firms Need to Be Aware of Risks of Web 2.0
As more tools of communication become available, like the blogs, wikis, social networks, and video/photo sharing sites which are all parts of Web 2.0, all businesses need to be aware of the risks associated with Web 2.0. Ruyak meant the bonuses as a thank-you for his staff whose members have worked so hard during a financially difficult year. Touched by the good news some members gasped while others were seen in tears. It is good to see Howrey's generosity has not taken a hit from the poor economy this year.
Sonnenschein Continues to Grow
Despite a weakening economy, Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal is continuing to expand its firm. Striving since 2006 to increase the range of services they provide, Sonnenschein has added 100 more lawyers in the past 10 days to their firm. In a large deal which involved lots of negotiations, Sonnenschein was able to acquire about forty partners in the 100-lawyer addition from Thacher Proffitt & Wood. Sonnenschein's is still 200 lawyers shy of its ultimate goal of being a 1,000-lawyer firm, but they look forward to more growth in 2009. Cutting positions in departments with soft client demand has helped strengthen the core of Sonnenschein, even as they expand the departments with higher demand.
