Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous

Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous
Take a drive down Sunset Boulevard and you'll come across one of the most famous icons in the world, the Beverly Hills City Limits sign. This is where Hollywood's rich and famous make their homes and where many wealthy tourists come to play. With the median price of a home coming in at a little over $1 million, Beverly Hills, 90210 is easily one of the most expensive zip codes in the country.

If planning a trip to this famed Los Angeles neighborhood, you must, of course, do it in style. The first thing on your to-do list should be a little bit of shopping on perhaps the most famous street for high-cost fashion in the world - Rodeo Drive. Along this posh three-block stretch of Beverly Hills, you will find designers such as Gucci, Prada, and Valentino showing off their latest spring fashions and jewelers like Cartier and Tiffany's blinding passers-by with their dazzling diamonds in window displays. Don't be surprised to catch a glimpse of a movie star here and there. Rodeo is a prime spot to catch celebrities such as Britney Spears and Leonardo DiCaprio flashing their plastic with reckless abandon.

To give you an idea of the extravagance of Rodeo Drive, it is home to the single most expensive store in the world, Bijan. Customers must first make an appointment before they visit, and the average patron usually purchases around $100,000 in men's clothing. Does $50 for a pair of socks seem a little excessive? Or how about a $15,000 suit? If you're shopping on Rodeo, you're probably not much of bargain hunter, anyway.

At the north end of Rodeo Drive is one of Beverly Hills' most notable landmarks, the Beverly Hills Hotel. Its pink facade stands out among the hundreds of palms trees lining the extravagant resort. It has long been the hotel of choice for the most elite celebrities, including Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor, John F. Kennedy, John Wayne, Michael Jackson, and even John Lennon and Yoko Ono. So, be sure to reserve a few nights at this luxo-resort and live like any successful LawCrossing member should. Rooms range from approximately $300 per night for a basic room with a view to $3000 per night in the Presidential Suite.

After a long day of shopping on Rodeo, you should consider pampering yourself with a full treatment in the hotel's world-renowned spa. The spa's signature treatment is a caviar firming facial. Using a highly-concentrated caviar extract, the facial will leave your skin feeling firm and fresh. At $250 per treatment, I would be sure to request any leftover caviar to be wrapped up for a to-go order.

After being covered with delicious caviar, you are bound to build up an appetite. Beverly Hills is filled with five-star gourmet restaurants. Wolfgang Puck's Spago is perhaps the city's most famous dining hot-spot. Unlike the Beverly Hills Hotel Spa, Spago only charges $65 for Russina Beluga Caviar. Grilled Cote De Boeuf with Pommes Aligot will run you $38 and a bottle of Corton Charlemagne Coche Dury 97 compliments your meal nicely for only $525. Tom Cruise and Penelope Cruz had their first date at Spago, and Bill Clinton hosted a benefit for MTV's "Rock the Vote" campaign in this famous establishment.

Once you have spent your life savings on Italian suits, diamond jewelry, massages and champagne, you're not out of luck. Since Beverly Hills is known for its movie stars, pull out Mr. Lincoln, buy a star map for $5 and let your curiosity take over. There are so many things to do and so many people to see, one trip to Beverly Hills might not be enough.
