08/04/08 GM In-house Lawyer Helps Fund Mobile Legal Clinic for Vets General Motors' in-house counsel, Chris Johnson, has helped fund a mobile legal clinic for veterans, raising over $120,000 to purchase and outfit a van for legal work. That van now travels around the country helping veterans get benefits. The Office of Fair Trading Hires New GC The Office of Fair Trading has hired a new general counsel with the appointment of Frances Barr. This was an inside hire, as Barr has been with the regulator for ten years. Barr previously worked for Slaughter and May. FourWinds Capital Manager Hires First GC Investment management company FourWinds Capital Manager has hired Louise Freestone to be its first ever general counsel. Freestone was formerly with Herbert Smith. FourWinds is based in Boston, but Freestone will work in the firm's London office.
