College Gets Early Gift
The University of Toledo College of Law received $250,000 from alumnus Jeff Bixler. Bixler and his wife, Kathy, donated the money to help with the efforts of the school's legal clinic and discretionary fund. Bixler graduated from the University of Toledo College of Law in 1972 and is hoping the money will benefit the clinic, which aims to provide people with equal access to legal services.
Endowment Fund Created for Law School
Having graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1966, Dennis Mathisen and his wife, Gail, have decided to set up a $1 million endowment fund at the school. The law school provided Mathisen with many opportunities, he says, so now he's giving back. The fund is appropriately titled "The Dennis and Gail Mathisen Scholarship Fund" and will offer financial aid to new law students who are doing exceptional work. First-year students who receive aid can also apply for scholarship renewal for their future years at the school.
Law Clinic Donates Gifts to Local Family
hanks to a referral system from the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services, attorneys and staff from the Southern Illinois University School of Law legal clinic worked together to improve the holiday season for a local family. They bought and donated a variety of presents to the mother of four and her children. The family received around 50 gifts through the program.
