Springbok Services hires new GC
Leading provider of prepaid MasterCard® cards Springbok Services Inc. has hired Brad Fauss as its new senior vice president and general counsel. Fauss, with over 13 years of electronic transaction processing experience, has served as senior vice president of legal, risk, and compliance for TSYS Prepaid Inc. as well as a division general counsel for Global Payments Inc. "I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to join such a dynamic organization," said Fauss, "which is both an industry leader and one of the fastest-growing providers in the industry." Fauss received his J.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Law and his B.S. in finance from Florida State University. Of Fauss, CEO and co-founder of Springbok Services Taylor Ohlsen said, "[He] is a well-respected thought leader in the prepaid industry, and we're very excited to have him on board."

BPI hires new GC
Industry group for UK record companies BPI has hired Kiaron Whitehead as its new general counsel, replacing temporary general counsel Simon Baggs. Baggs filled the position after former general counsel Roz Groome left in May 2007. Whitehead, who will begin in March 2008, comes from litigation firm Forbes Anderson Free. He spent six years "specializing in contentious IP matters for media and entertainment clients," says an article. Of the industry Whitehead said, "The business of protecting music has always been an evolving and challenging one — no more so than now."

Interim GC at Tronox
Roger G. Addison, who has been serving as Tronox's general counsel, will step down on November 29, 2007. He has been with Tronox for 31 years and has served as its general counsel, vice president, and secretary. Of his experience he said, "I have been fortunate to work with a talented group of professionals at both Kerr-McGee and Tronox. It has been personally and professionally rewarding to participate in the spin-off of Tronox and be part of its exciting transformation." Serving as interim general counsel is Michael J. Foster, managing counsel.

MIPS Technologies hires new GC
MIPS Technologies, "a leading provider of industry-standard architectures, processor cores, and analog IP for digital consumer, networking, personal entertainment, communications, and business applications," according to an article, has hired Stuart J. Nichols as its new vice president, corporate secretary, and general counsel. Nichols, who has more than 20 years of legal experience, recently resided as KLA-Tencor Corporation's vice president and general counsel. He received his J.D. from the University of San Francisco School of Law as well as his bachelor's degree from the University of California, Berkeley. Of his role at the company, CEO and President John Bourgoin said, "With an impressive legal background in semiconductor-related IP, commercial transactions, and mergers and acquisitions, we expect [Nichols] to play a critical role as we build upon the broad IP and patent portfolio on which MIPS was founded more than two decades ago."
