The three Duke University students accused of raping a girl are back in court, testifying for someone else's case. | The case is Attorney Mike Nifong's, the prosecutor who charged the three students with "first degree forcible rape and kidnapping," after a stripper at a 2006 Duke party claimed she had been beaten and raped by three men, says an article on abcnews.go.com.
However, when the accuser began to change her story and an "airtight alibi" surfaced, proving one of the students was not there the night of the party, the charges were dropped.
Now, Nifong faces his own set of charges, which includes "withholding potentially exculpatory evidence, making inappropriate public comments about the case, and lying to a judge and to state bar investigators," states an article on abcnews.go.com, as well as the consequences of having his law license suspended or being permanently disbarred.
