Five employment and labor attorneys join Kauff, McClain & McGuire, LLP
Kauff, McClain & McGuire, LLP, recently announced that five new attorneys have joined the firm's Los Angeles office. Joining as partners are Naomi Young, Lawrence J. Gartner, and Kimberly M. Talley, all of whom have been named as Southern California "Super Lawyers." Tazamisha H. Imara and Stefanie M. Gushá have joined as associates. Young and Gartner will lead the firm's Los Angeles office. Young has practiced labor and employment law for more than 30 years. She represents employers in all labor and employment matters, including class-based and individual discrimination, wage and hour, and wrongful discharge litigation and collective bargaining. Gartner has represented employers in more than 20 jury trials involving claims of employment discrimination, sexual and racial harassment, and wrongful termination. Talley represents private- and public-sector employers in a broad range of employment matters. She has litigated employment discrimination, wage and hour, and wrongful termination claims in state and federal courts and before administrative agencies. Imara was named as a 2006 Southern California "Rising Star" by Law & Politics and the publishers of Los Angeles Magazine.
Pepper Hamilton, LLP, welcomes David Shapiro to its health effects practice group
David Shapiro recently joined Pepper Hamilton, LLP, as of counsel in the firm's health effects practice group. Shapiro is based in the Philadelphia office, where he will serve as a member of the white-collar/government investigation defense team. Prior to joining Pepper Hamilton, Shapiro was a trial attorney in the Civil Division of the Commercial Litigation Section of the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ). In this role, he primarily prosecuted healthcare fraud cases under the federal False Claims Act, along with other fraud and abuse cases.
Tammy McCutchen joins Littler Mendelson as a shareholder
Littler Mendelson, the nation's largest labor and employment law firm, recently announced that Tammy McCutchen has joined its Washington, DC, office as a shareholder. McCutchen was most recently with Dickstein Shapiro in Washington, DC. She also served as Administrator of the Wage and Hour Division of the U.S. Department of Labor, where she was responsible for administering and enforcing some of the United States' most comprehensive labor laws. McCutchen is a leading authority on wage and hour issues and focuses her practice on counseling clients on employment matters, particularly those related to minimum wage, overtime, and child labor provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA).
Kummer, Kaempfer, Bonner, Renshaw & Ferrario welcomes three new attorneys
Nevada firm Kummer, Kaempfer, Bonner, Renshaw & Ferrario announced that three attorneys have recently joined the firm. They are of counsel William J. Wray and two new associates, Thomas R. Armstrong and Scott L. Halvorsen. Wray's practice emphasizes litigation in the context of construction and other commercial transactions and includes corporate and organizational matters, among many others. Halvorsen practices in the firm's transactional department, and Armstrong practices in the areas of civil litigation and civil defense.
