Report released on law firms' e-marketing practices
A leading source for international market research and market data, Research and Markets has released a new report: "The Survey of Law Firm eMarketing Practices." The report contains data on the use of various methods for e-marketing by law firms, such as e-newsletters, opt-in email, banner ads, and per-click payments to search engines managed by companies like Google, Yahoo, MSN, and Overture. It also provides details on firms' use of emerging e-marketing methods such as podcasting, webcasting, and streaming video. Research and Markets provides "market-research reports and industry newsletters from specialist research firms and niche market analysts."
Johnson & Condon launches 24/7 hospitality helpline
Law firm Johnson & Condon, P.A., has launched a new 24/7 service for Minnesota hospitality establishments. Led by the firm's senior partners, Mark Condon and Tim Leer, the service team will provide legal assistance to taverns, liquor stores, bars, restaurants, and other hospitality outlets that may require help after the firm's regular working hours. The firm has a toll-free number that can be used to reach the service team 365 days per year to discuss hospitality-linked legal disputes. Founded in 1966, Edina-based Johnson & Condon is known for working on high-profile litigation cases and serves clients ranging from multinational corporations to emerging businesses.
King & Spalding to expand its real estate capital markets practice group
King & Spalding, LLP, is set to relocate the center of operations for its real estate capital markets practice group from Atlanta to New York. The move is intended to expand the practice, as the law firm plans to double the number of attorneys in the group in New York. It has added Andrew H. Charles as a partner in its real estate practice in New York. Charles, who comes from Cravath, Swaine & Moore, has significant experience with representing real estate private equity firms in matters pertaining to acquisition, financing, and disposition. The Atlanta office will continue to operate with 30 real estate attorneys who will coordinate with those at the New York headquarters.
Pepper Hamilton has new executive member
Nina Gussack has been appointed as the head of the executive committee at law firm Pepper Hamilton. Gussack, the only top female executive at the firm, will be responsible for major strategic initiatives including mergers and acquisitions. Known for having one of the biggest business books in the city, she specializes in defending pharmaceutical and medical-device companies in product-liability cases. Gussack has been with the firm for 27 years and was appointed partner in 1987. A multi-practice law firm, Pepper Hamilton has 450 lawyers working from offices spread across seven states and the District of Columbia.
IP law firm appoints five partners and one of counsel
Intellectual property law firm Fitzpatrick, Cella, Harper & Scinto has appointed five new partners and one of counsel. Partners Filko Prugo, Joshua I. Rothman, and Lock See Yu-Jahnes will work from the firm's New York office, while Edmund J. Haughey, III, and Justin J. Oliver will be based in the Washington, DC, office. Of counsel Aimee Nassau Gardiner will serve in the firm's New York office. Fitzpatrick Cella has 140 attorneys working from offices in New York, Costa Mesa, CA, and Washington, DC. Its lawyers provide clients with intellectual property services related to applications for patent and trademark protection, litigation, alternative dispute resolution, licensing, corporate transactions, and due diligence.
NYC law firm adds two seasoned patent lawyers
Manhattan-based Pryor, Cashman, Sherman & Flynn, LLP, has added patent law veterans Andrew S. Langsam and Barry E. Negrin to its intellectual property practice. The two, who previously worked for Levisohn, Berger & Langsam, LLP, an intellectual property boutique firm in New York, have 45 years of combined experience in patent prosecution and litigation. The new additions also specialize in areas including infringement opinions, due diligence, patent interferences, and technology licensing. Ragsdale Liggett hires litigation associate
Ragsdale Liggett, PLLC, has hired John Edward McKnight, who will serve as an associate in its litigation group. McKnight will work primarily on general and civil litigation, as well as in the areas of construction, employment, and contract disputes. He comes from Hatch, Little & Bunn, LLP, where he was an associate and managed the firm's domestic law practice. Established in 1972, Ragsdale Liggett is known for its strong corporate law practice, which deals with business counseling, mergers and acquisitions, dispositions, and dissolutions.
