The days when women stayed at home to cook and clean are over. Instead, they are rushing through traffic to get to the office, the grocery store, the mailroom, meetings, etc. With so much to do, who has time for housecleaning? Even if there were a few moments in the day left to spare, checking emails usually takes precedence over household chores.
In the past, kids used to be great at doing slave labor around the house for some chump change, but that, too, is a thing of the past. The Internet generation now "banks" on downloading CDs and selling them around school, as well as other creatively illegal, web-savvy ways.
Bachelors are another group who lack the incentive to clean house. When dudes return from work, they would much rather surf Match.com for a Friday night date instead of scrub the floors of their pads. It boils down to this—no matter what your marital status, gender, or age range happens to be, no one has the time or energy to clean the house. In Roseanne Barr's terms, there is no longer such a thing as a "domestic goddess."
At least not until iRobot created the Scooba Floor Washing Robot. This magnificent invention has saved us from the annoying task of mopping the floors. Whether you have sealed hardwood floors, linoleum, tile, or marble, the Scooba can clean it. According to www.irobot.com, "Mopping has become a distant memory. With Scooba, your floors will be cleaner than ever, and you'll never have to touch a dirty mop and bucket again."
According to the Wall Street Journal, "Scooba was driven by customer feedback that showed an interest in automating household tasks that needed to be done often but that few people liked."
It's simple to operate; all you have to do is fill a tank, press "clean," and empty the tank when finished. On its own, the Scooba first "preps" by picking up loose crumbs, sand, and dirt. Next, it washes the floor unlike mops that just push dirt around. Gently, the Scooba scrubs the floor, removing dirt, grime, and spills. Finally, a "drying stage," entails picking up the dirty solution, leaving the floor spic-n-span. In addition, the Scooba robot can get under furniture and other hard-to-reach places.
"It even picked up syrup and chocolate sauce. The verdict: Scooba is a household gem," reports Good Housekeeping magazine.
The Scooba robot features iRobot's AWARE Robot Intelligence Systems. AWARE uses dozens of sensors to monitor the robot's environment and adjusts it up to 67 times per second, ensuring that the robot cleans effectively and safely.
"Scooba has special safety features to help keep your pet safe. Their on-board stair-avoiding system prevents them from falling down stairs," reports www.irobot.com. "Bump sensors prevent them from doing anything more than gently touching your pet, and they automatically stop if they're lifted from the ground, so noses and paws won't be harmed if a curious pet flips them over. You should keep an eye on your robot the first time you use it around your pet, just in case they get a little too curious or alarmed." Therefore, if you do not have a robot/pet standoff, www.irobot.com claims that pets will adopt the robot, ignore it, or play with it.
According to Time.com columnist Wilson Rothman: "I finally got to test the iRobot Scooba at home, and I'm happy to report that the floor washing robot, one of our 2006 coolest inventions picks, is surprisingly effective."
Summarizing the Scooba's features below, this is one robot you do not want to live without. Once you go Scooba, you'll never go back.
