Jimmy Choo, Louis Vuitton, and the LG KG800 Chocolate Phone Accessory

The phone was introduced in Korea, where 300,000 LG KG800 Chocolate handsets were sold instantly. And on May 3, the Chocolate cell phone was launched in the U.K. and became a must-have item. There is no doubt that this gadget will have heads turning all around the world.

"This mobile certainly has the ooooh factor. Just seeing it, you want to get your hands on one," said consumingexperience.blogspot.com. "The design is near irresistible in terms of looks, though less so in terms of usability or functionality. No, it's not actually chocolate in color, though it certainly looks good enough to eat."

With touch keys placed on a flat, glass-like surface, the heat-sensitive touch keys require barely any pressure. And to get to the usual number keys for dialing and text messaging, the phone gracefully slides open. There are four keys on the side and MP3/multimedia access. The clear color screen and amazing sound quality work perfectly with the MP3.

"It's a killer combo—shiny, minimalist black—but when you slide it open, the touch keys' symbols light up a lovely glowing red. The alphanumeric keys, accessible only when you slide the phone open, are two-tone black, shiny and matte—a nice touch."

However, along with the pros, there are always some cons with every new product that hits the market. According to another review on consumingexperience.blogspot.com, "It's too easy to hang up accidentally when answering a call, till you learn to adjust (if you have my size and shape of hand, at least!). Keys take some getting used to, both touch and alphanumeric (and no gloved operation in the winter). Surface gets ickily smeary within seconds (but a cleaning tool is supplied). Memory is only 128 MB and it won't take memory cards, so usefulness for MP3s is limited (you can store one, maybe 2 CD's worth max). Plus, if you play MP3s, it eats up battery life quite fast even on the lowest volume, and it will die on you without any warning—a major issue for me, as I'd rather stop listening than be without a working mobile, if only I was alerted that the battery was low. If you text a lot, the poor T9 implementation may slow you down, drive you mad or both. Seems less robust than other phones (screen, touch keys seem delicate) so try not to drop it (well I did once and it seemed OK, but still...)."

Along with the Chocolate phone, the package contains a whole bunch of goodies, making this gadget the perfect gift. Some of the items include a charger, a manual and quick-start guide, and a hands-free kit with stereo earphones. Also included are a remote control for MP3s, a carry pouch, a USB cable, and a CD with PC software.

With the Chocolate mobile phone already snagging two European design awards (IF Design Award and red dot Design Award) for its great style and user interface, it is on the fast track to stardom. Although it may not be the most suitable item for Wall Street business execs, most likely everyone working at Vogue will soon have their very own Chocolate phones.
