04/11/06 American Express GC joins Ocean Tomo Raymond Millien, ex-Vice President and Group Counsel at The American Express Company, has joined Ocean Tomo's Chicago office as General Counsel. He was responsible for managing the company's global patent portfolio and leading technology outward-licensing deals at Amex. At Ocean Tomo, Millien will be part of the firm's Executive Committee and will oversee all legal and regulatory affairs. He will also assist the firm's management with acquisitions and the structuring of joint ventures. Ocean Tomo is the first and only integrated intellectual capital merchant bank providing corporate finance, asset and risk management, valuation, market research, analytics, and expert services to diverse clientele. Khoury named new GC at Weyerhaeuser Kenneth F. Khoury is the new Senior Vice President and General Counsel at Weyerhaeuser Company. Previously Khoury was Vice President and Deputy General Counsel with Georgia-Pacific Corporation, a subsidiary of Koch Industries. At Weyerhaeuser, Khoury will report to the Chairman, President, and CEO Steven R. Rogel and will become a member of the company's senior-management team. Weyerhaeuser Company is principally engaged in the growing and harvesting of timber; the manufacture, distribution, and sale of forest products; and real estate construction, development, and related activities. BAE Systems appoints new GC and Chief Counsel The Electronics & Integrated Solutions group of BAE Systems has appointed Mark Haley as the new Vice President and General Counsel. Previously, he served as the Vice President and Deputy General Counsel at General Dynamics. At BAE, Haley will be responsible for advising on all legal areas for the group. Additionally, Susan Lowenstam has been appointed Chief Counsel for the National Security Solutions and Center for Transformation units based in San Diego. Lowenstam joined the company in 2003 and was General Counsel for BAE Systems' Platform Solutions in Los Angeles. BAE Systems is an international company delivering a full range of products and services for air, land, and naval forces, as well as advanced electronics, information technology solutions, and customer support services. Callas appointed new GC at Modern Woodmen Darcy Callas has replaced C. Ernest Beane on Modern Woodmen of America's board of directors. Callas joined Modern Woodmen in 1983, served as Assistant General Counsel since 1994, and is now slated to become the new General Counsel. Founded in 1883 as a fraternal benefit society, Modern Woodmen of America offers financial services and fraternal member benefits to individuals and families. Mercury announces new GC Sandra Escher has been named Senior Vice President and global General Counsel of Mercury. Previously the Senior Vice President and General Counsel of Silicon Graphics, Inc., Escher is highly experienced in corporate, securities, business practice, and intellectual property law, as well as mergers and acquisitions. Mercury is the global leader in business-technology-optimization software and one of the largest enterprise-software companies today. Mull is new GC at Potlatch Corporation Pamela A. Mull is the new Vice President and General Counsel of Potlatch, replacing Ralph M. Davisson, now retired. Pamela was previously the Assistant Vice President, Assistant General Counsel, and Assistant Secretary for five years at Amfac, Inc. Potlatch Corporation is a real estate investment trust that owns and manages 1.5 million acres of timberlands located in Arkansas, Idaho, and Minnesota and a 17,000-acre hybrid poplar plantation in Oregon.
